Dry cycles overview

This dryer offers Sensor Dry cycles, Steam cycles, Manual Dry cycles, and a Downloaded cycle. To choose a cycle, turn the knob or press the button for the desired cycle. When you select a dry cycle, the light for that cycle turns on.

Sensor Dry cycles Sensor Dry cycles use LG’s dual sensor system to detect and compare: - the moisture level in the clothes, and - the moisture level in the air

The dryer then adjusts the drying time as needed. For these cycles, the appliance automatically sets the dryness level and temperature to the recommended setting for that cycle. The estimated time remaining shows in the display.

Common settings shown for Sensor Dry cycles include: - Dry Level: Damp, Less, Normal, More, Very - Temperature: Ultra Low, Low, Medium, Med. High, High

Normal Use for drying normal items such as: - cotton - linen - shirts - jeans - mixed loads

Do not use this cycle for delicate fabrics such as wool or silk. - Default dry level: Normal - Available dry levels: All - Default temperature: Med. High - Available temperature: Med. High

Heavy Duty Use for heavy-duty clothes like jeans or garments that need extra drying. - Default dry level: Normal - Available dry levels: All - Default temperature: High - Available temperature: High

Bedding Use for blankets or bulky items such as: - pillows - blankets - comforters - sheets - pet bedding

Steam cycles LG’s steam technology injects fabrics with a swirling jet of hot steam to refresh clothes, reduce static, and make ironing easier.

Steam SanitaryTM Use this cycle to reduce bacteria on laundry using TurboSteam. - Dry level: Not adjustable - Temperature: High only - Default time: 31 minutes - Fabric type / max amount: - Comforter, Bedding (Single, 1 each) - Children’s Clothing (3 lbs.)

Steam FreshTM Use this cycle to quickly reduce wrinkles and odors in fabrics using steam. - Dry level: Not adjustable - Temperature: Med. High default, available All - Default time: 10 minutes - Fabric type / max amount: - Comforter (Single, 1 each) - Shirts (5 each)

For shirts, the manual specifies 70% cotton / 30% poly blend and says to avoid especially delicate fabrics.

Important cautions for steam cycles: - Do not open the dryer door during steam cycles. - Do not touch the steam nozzle in the drum during or after the steam cycle. - Do not use steam cycles with damaged-sensitive items listed below.

Do not use Steam SanitaryTM with: - urethane foam - down feathers - delicate items

Do not use Steam FreshTM with: - wool - wool blankets - leather jackets - silk - lingerie - foam products - electric blankets

Note: Steam SanitaryTM and Steam FreshTM are designed for use with dry clothing.

For Steam FreshTM, the cycle time depends on the load size. You can press More Time or Less Time to change the display to match the number of items: - 1 = 1 item - 3 = 2 or 3 items - s = 4 or 5 items - bIG = a large load such as a comforter

Manual Dry cycles Use Manual Dry cycles when you want to select a specific drying time. When a Manual Dry cycle is selected, the actual time remaining appears on the display. You can change the time during the cycle by pressing More Time or Less Time.

Speed Dry Use this cycle to quickly dry a small load of laundry. - Dry level: Not adjustable - Temperature: High default, available All

Air Dry Use this cycle to dry items that can be tumble dried without using heat, such as plastics or rubber. - Dry level: Not adjustable - Temperature: Not adjustable

Special drying cycle Downloaded This cycle lets you download a new, specialized drying cycle to the appliance with a smartphone. - Refer to the LG ThinQ smartphone application to see the cycles available for download.

Choosing the right cycle - Use Sensor Dry for everyday loads and when you want the dryer to automatically adjust drying time. - Use Steam SanitaryTM when you want steam-based bacteria reduction on the approved load types listed above. - Use Steam FreshTM to help reduce wrinkles and odors in dry clothes. - Use Manual Dry when you want a fixed drying time. - Use Air Dry only for items that can be tumble dried without heat. - Use Downloaded if you have added a specialized cycle through LG ThinQ.
