Before Use and Loading Laundry

Read this first - To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, read the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS before operating the appliance.

Basic operation sequence 1. Clean the lint filter. 2. Load the dryer. 3. Turn on the dryer. 4. Select a cycle. 5. Adjust settings, if desired. 6. Press Start/Pause to begin. 7. Remove laundry when the cycle ends.

1) Clean the lint filter before every load - Always make sure the lint filter is clean before starting a new load. - A clogged lint filter will increase drying time. - If the lint filter has not already been cleaned, lift it out and remove the lint from the last load. - Reinstall the filter by pressing it down firmly until it clicks into place. - Make sure the lint filter is properly installed before running the dryer. - Running the dryer with a loose or missing lint filter will damage the dryer and articles in the dryer.

2) Load the dryer correctly - Push clothing entirely into the drum and keep it away from the door seal area. - Clothing caught between the door and seal may be damaged or may damage the seal. - If a load is extra large, divide it into smaller loads for proper performance and fabric care. - Tie and secure all strings and attached belts before placing clothes in the drum. - Do not overload the dryer. - For the best drying performance and the most efficient energy use, avoid overloading. - Damp clothes expand as they dry, so leave enough room for items to tumble freely. - Combine large and small items in the same load when appropriate.

3) Sort laundry by fabric and care needs - Sort and dry laundry according to care labels, size, and fabric type. - Group similar items into loads that can be dried with the same cycle. - Different fabrics have different care requirements, and some dry more quickly than others. - Use mesh laundry bags for clothes with zippers, hooks, straps, and drawstrings to help prevent catching, tangling, or damage to the lint filter.

Fabric-care guidance - Some woven and loopknit materials may shrink, depending on quality. - For permanent press and synthetics, do not overload the dryer. Remove permanent press items as soon as the dryer stops to reduce wrinkles. - For baby clothes and nightgowns, always check the manufacturer’s instructions. - Do not dry items made from or containing rubber or plastics, such as aprons, bibs, chair covers, curtains, tablecloths, and bath mats. - Do not dry fiberglass articles. Glass particles left in the dryer could be picked up by other clothes later and irritate your skin. - For woolen items, always follow the fabric care labels before drying. After the cycle, wool items may still be damp. Do not repeat the cycle. Pull items back to their original shape if needed and lay them flat to finish drying.

4) Choose a cycle - Turn the cycle selector knob in either direction until the LED for the desired cycle is on. - The preset temperature, dry level, and option settings for that cycle will be shown. - If you press Start/Pause without selecting a cycle, the dryer immediately starts the Normal cycle with the default settings. - Select the Normal cycle if you want to change the default settings.

5) Adjust settings - You may change the default settings for the selected cycle using the cycle modifier and option buttons. - Not all modifiers and options are available on all cycles. - If a selection is not allowed, a different chime will sound and the LED will not come on.

6) Start the cycle - Press Start/Pause to begin. - You can pause the cycle at any time by opening the door or pressing Start/Pause. - If Start/Pause is not pressed within a certain time, the dryer shuts off and all settings are lost.

7) When the cycle ends - When the cycle is finished, a chime will sound. - Remove clothing from the dryer immediately to reduce wrinkling. - If Wrinkle Care is selected, the dryer will tumble briefly every few minutes to help prevent wrinkles from setting in.

Fabric care label reminders - Tumble dry labels may indicate Dry, Normal, Permanent Press/Wrinkle Resistant, or Gentle/Delicate. - Some labels indicate Do not tumble dry or Do not dry. - Heat-setting labels may indicate High, Medium, Low, or No Heat/Air. - Use the care label and the manufacturer’s recommendations to help choose the correct cycle and options.
