Before Installation: Requirements and Planning

Read these installation instructions before you install the washer or move it to a new location. The manual gives this installation sequence:

What to do first - Remove the carton and all shipping material. - Lift the washer off the foam base. - Inspect the washer for shipping damage as you unpack it.

Important caution about the foam base - Make sure the plastic drum support comes off with the foam base and is not left stuck to the bottom of the washer. - If you must lay the washer down to remove the carton base, protect the side of the washer and lay it carefully on its side only. - Do not lay the washer on its front or back.

Remove the shipping bolts The washer has 4 shipping bolt assemblies that must be fully removed before use.

1. Start with the bottom two shipping bolts. 2. Use the included wrench to fully loosen all 4 shipping bolts by turning them counterclockwise. 3. Remove each bolt assembly by wiggling it slightly while pulling it out.

A bolt assembly includes all of these parts: - metal bolt and washer - rubber damper - plastic rod

Replace the hole caps - Find the hole caps included in the accessory pack or attached to the back of the washer. - Install the caps in the holes left by the bolt assemblies.

Save the shipping bolts - Keep the bolt assemblies for future use. - If the washer needs to be moved again, reinstall the shipping bolts before transporting it. - Do not transport the washer without reinstalling the shipping bolts.

Helpful notes - All 4 bolt assemblies must be completely removed to avoid product damage. - Failure to remove the shipping materials can cause excessive noise and vibration. - The power cord is secured to the back of the washer with a shipping bolt to help prevent operation with the shipping bolts still in place. - If reinstalling the bolt assemblies for shipping, install the 2 short ones at the top, the long one without a hook at the bottom left, and the long one with a hook at the bottom right.

If you are stacking the washer or using a pedestal - The washer can be stacked under a dryer or placed on a pedestal or pedestal washer. - Refer to the instructions packaged with the optional pedestal kit before stacking the appliance on a pedestal. - Do not use a drain pan with a pedestal or pedestal washer installation, because it can block the drawer. - Using a drain pan may also increase vibration and noise during operation.

Why this step matters Removing all shipping materials helps the washer operate properly. Leaving shipping bolts or retainers in place can cause severe vibration and noise and may lead to permanent damage to the washer.

Connect the Water Inlet Hoses

Follow these steps to connect the hot and cold water supply hoses correctly and check that they are clean and leak-free.

1) Connect the hoses to the faucets - Connect the water inlet hoses to the hot and cold water faucets by hand first. - After hand-tightening, tighten each connection another 2/3 turn with pliers. - Connect the blue hose to the cold water faucet. - Connect the red hose to the hot water faucet.

2) Flush the hoses before final use - After the hoses are connected, turn on the water faucets. - Let water run through the hoses to flush out any foreign substances such as dirt, sand, or sawdust. - Drain the water into a bucket. - Check the water temperature while draining to confirm that the hoses are connected to the correct faucets.

This step helps protect the washer. Foreign substances can damage the washer inlets and may cause leakage.

3) Attach the hoses to the back of the washer - Attach the hot water inlet hose to the hot water inlet on the back of the washer. - Attach the cold water inlet hose to the cold water inlet on the back of the washer. - Tighten the fittings securely.

4) Check for leaks - Turn on both faucets all the way. - Check both ends of both hoses for leaks.

Drain into a laundry tub

1. Clip the end of the hose into the elbow bracket. 2. Connect the elbow bracket within 4 inches (10 cm) of the end of the drain hose. 3. Hang the end of the drain hose over the side of the laundry tub. 4. Use the provided tie strap to secure the drain hose in place.

Drain through a wall drain

If the water valves and drain are built into the wall:

1. Fasten the drain hose to one of the water hoses. 2. Use the provided tie strap. 3. Install the tie strap with the ribbed side on the inside.

Hose length and position limits

• The manual shows the drain connection height range as 24–96 inches (61–244 cm).
• Do not extend the drain hose more than 4 inches (10 cm) beyond the end of the elbow bracket.

Important caution

- If the hose extends more than 4 inches (10 cm) beyond the elbow bracket, mold or microorganisms could spread to the inside of the washer.

Keep adjusting until the washer sits level and all 4 feet are firmly on the floor.

3) Tighten the locknuts When the washer is level, turn the locknuts counterclockwise and tighten them.

4) Check the washer again Push or rock the top edges of the washer gently. - If the washer does not rock, the level is correct. - If the washer rocks, adjust the leveling feet again.

If the floor is slippery If the washer is installed on a slippery surface, it may move because of excessive vibration. Incorrect leveling can also cause noise, vibration, and malfunction.

If this happens, the manual says to install non-skid pads under the leveling feet and then adjust the level.

Using non-skid pads 1. Clean the floor where the pads will be attached. - Use a dry rag to remove foreign objects or moisture. - If moisture remains, the pads may slip.

2. After placing the washer in the installation area, adjust the level.

3. Place the adhesive side of the non-skid pad on the floor. - It is most effective to install the pads under the front leveling feet. - If that is hard to do, place them under the back leveling feet.
